Daydream Rider opens to mixed reviews

Carlos Vinzooli's last picture, 'Cartoon Life' was a critical
success garnering attention, nominations and several
awards.
'Daydream Rider' received ho-hum reviews and
didn't exactly blow-out the box-office with on-screen,
satellite and Internet downloads totalling only $ 9 million
for the weekend.

It's the story of a man who first notices his fiancés
disappearance after several years. The impression is given
that he is lost in a fog of reminiscences, several of which
are clearly invented. He goes in search of her both in the
virtual world and in parallel, the real world. To make his
search seem more relevant he begins to refer to her as
his wife, and even drops hints that international terrorists
may be responsible for her disappearance.

A sense of ennui is evoked by several cuts from Anita
Bottomtown's latest album: 'On A Bad Day.'

Barton Whitebread plays the searcher. He's tall and not
hard on the eyes, but it's hard to tell if this role was
tailored to match his meager acting range, or synchronicity
of talent and indifference have made their match.
