Mikhail Mikkelsen an extraordinary photo-re finisher

It's hard to place "Mikki" Mikkelsen in a typical category. While known
for nature studies as well as celebrity portraits he defied easy
categorization.

The featured picture
Fred Muscle and Mom was taken during a
camping trip in the Canadian sub-tropics. The trip itself nearly ended in
disaster. Originally a photo taken with a tiny nose camera
Mikki was able to shape it into an interesting work of art. The Mom in
the picture was Mikki's who was Fred Muscle's girl friend during the
period.

The camping trip itself became the subject of a TV movie and received
enormous press-coverage at the time. A group of Grizzly Bears being
chased by Iraqi refugees descended on the threesome and nearly
devoured Fred Muscle. Mikki stopped the shenanigans with his Ruger
44 with which he slaughtered the bears, blowing their heads off with
dumdum bullets after stopping them with heart shots.

"Camera or firearm I am a born shootist," he later said of the incident.

Fred Muscle's career seemed headed for oblivion afterwards. He had
played a teenage heart-throb on the 'Simian Hour' into his 30s.
Recently his musical "I Am Fantastic" opened on Broadway to good
reviews and solid crowds.

On the relationship of his mother with Fred, Mikki shrugged," It was
cool. I always liked Fred as kind of an older brother, even if he was a
dufus."

Mikkelsen's work will be on display at the Blacknie through this
weekend.
